Our top pick: AiJoy Folding 88-Key Light-Up Keyboard.
How each alternative compares
Alesis Recital 88-Key Semi-Weighted Piano
The Alesis Recital matches the AiJoy with 88 semi-weighted keys and a similar footprint, but it lacks the folding mechanism. This fixed design makes it slightly less portable for travel, though the lighter 6.34-pound weight aids carrying. It includes educational lessons, which the AiJoy does not list. If you prioritize built-in instruction over space-saving storage, this fixed model is a practical choice. It offers a comparable entry-level experience without the visual key lights, focusing on core piano fundamentals instead.
Vediya 88-Key Semi-Weighted Upright Piano
The Vediya upright model replaces the AiJoy’s portable form factor with a permanent furniture-style cabinet. It features a triple pedal system instead of a single sustain pedal, providing more traditional piano control. This model is heavier and larger, making it unsuitable for frequent transport. It suits beginners who want a dedicated home instrument rather than a travel keyboard. While it shares the 88-key layout, the upright design offers a different aesthetic and stability, sacrificing the AiJoy’s foldable convenience for a more authentic standing presence.
BESFAN 88-Key Folding Keyboard with Lighted Keys
The BESFAN keyboard mirrors the AiJoy with folding design and lighted keys, targeting visual learners similarly. However, it weighs 12 pounds, making it heavier than the AiJoy’s 9-pound build. This added weight may affect portability slightly. It retains the 88-key semi-weighted action and white color scheme. If you prefer a similar light-up experience but find the AiJoy’s price or specific features less appealing, the BESFAN offers a comparable folding solution. It gives up the lighter carry weight but keeps the space-saving benefit and visual practice aids.
Zilvok 88-Key Semi-Weighted Digital Piano
The Zilvok piano shares the 88 semi-weighted key layout and USB-MIDI connectivity with the AiJoy. It includes a sustain pedal, similar to the AiJoy’s inclusion. However, it lacks the folding design, opting for a standard fixed form factor. This model is marketed as a complete starter kit, often including a stand, which the AiJoy does not. It suits beginners who want a stationary setup with included accessories. You trade the AiJoy’s portability and light-up keys for a potentially more comprehensive home practice station with a stand.
Vediya 88-Key Semi-Weighted Digital Piano
The Vediya VE28 digital piano offers a semi-weighted 88-key action with USB-MIDI connectivity, similar to the AiJoy. It comes with a four-leg stand, providing a stable playing surface unlike the AiJoy’s flat folding design. This setup is better for dedicated home practice rather than travel. It lacks the folding feature and light-up keys, focusing on a traditional piano stance. If you need a permanent setup with a stand included, this model is a solid alternative. It gives up portability for a more stable, upright-style playing experience.
KUMENG 88-Key Semi-Weighted Digital Piano
The KUMENG keyboard provides 88 semi-weighted keys and USB-MIDI connectivity, aligning with the AiJoy’s core specs. It features a wider width of 53 inches compared to the AiJoy’s 50 inches. This model lacks the folding design and light-up keys, offering a fixed, standard layout instead. It is suited for beginners who value sound variety and app integration over portability. You trade the AiJoy’s compact storage and visual aids for a larger, stationary instrument. It is a practical choice for home use where space is not a primary constraint.
