AiJoy Magnetic Split Keyboard Comparison
Key Action Feel
Both models feature semi-weighted keys, but the AiJoy 88-Key Magnetic Split Keyboard adds velocity sensitivity to its action. This means the volume changes based on how hard you press the keys, offering more dynamic expression. The AiJoy 88-Key Magnetic Split Portable Piano lists semi-weighted keys but does not explicitly mention velocity sensitivity in its specifications. Velocity sensitivity is crucial for realistic piano playing, allowing for nuanced performance. If you need expressive control over dynamics, the Keyboard model provides this feature clearly. The Portable model may lack this specific detail in its published data.
Portability and Weight
Weight is a major factor for travel. The AiJoy 88-Key Magnetic Split Portable Piano weighs 13 pounds according to its specs. In contrast, the AiJoy 88-Key Magnetic Split Keyboard is significantly lighter at just 7.3 pounds. This makes the Keyboard model much easier to carry in a backpack or overhead bin. If you plan to move your instrument frequently, the lighter option reduces strain. The Portable model is still manageable but is nearly double the weight of the Keyboard. For maximum portability, the lighter spec wins.
Sound Library
The AiJoy 88-Key Magnetic Split Portable Piano includes a robust sound library with 900 tones, 700 rhythms, and 110 demo songs. This variety supports exploration across pop, rock, and classical styles. The AiJoy 88-Key Magnetic Split Keyboard does not list specific numbers for tones or rhythms in its provided data. It mentions connecting to apps like Simply Piano but omits internal preset counts. If you want built-in variety for practice without external devices, the Portable model offers a defined and extensive library. The Keyboard model’s internal sound count is unspecified.
Connectivity Options
Connectivity differs between the two. The AiJoy 88-Key Magnetic Split Keyboard offers USB-MIDI, a headphone jack, and an audio input. This audio input allows you to play along with external music sources. The AiJoy 88-Key Magnetic Split Portable Piano lists MIDI and headphone connectivity but does not mention an audio input. The Keyboard model’s additional audio input provides more flexibility for connecting external devices. If you need to mix external audio with your playing, the Keyboard model has the clear advantage. Both support MIDI for app connectivity.
Battery Life
Both models use built-in batteries for portable use. The AiJoy 88-Key Magnetic Split Portable Piano specifies a 2000mAh battery that delivers up to 8 hours of playtime. The AiJoy 88-Key Magnetic Split Keyboard lists a battery with over 10 hours of playtime but does not specify the mAh capacity. The longer duration of 10+ hours on the Keyboard model is beneficial for extended sessions or travel without charging. If battery endurance is your priority, the Keyboard model offers a longer runtime. Both eliminate the need for constant wall power.
