Who it fits
Good fit for
You should consider this piano if you have limited floor space but need full-size keys. The slim design fits well in bedrooms or living rooms. It suits players who want wireless connectivity for streaming music or using apps. The included bundle offers a complete setup with a stand, bench, and pedal system. If you prefer a sleek, modern aesthetic with touch controls, this model matches your needs. It is ideal for home practice where space is at a premium.
Who should skip it
You should look elsewhere if you need extensive physical buttons for quick access. This model relies on touch controls and an app for settings like tone and resonance. If you prefer a traditional control panel layout, this interface may feel limiting. Also, skip this if you do not want to purchase a stand separately, as the base unit is just the piano. Verdict: The Casio Privia PX-S3100 offers a space-saving design with robust sound features. It is a practical choice for players needing a compact, full-size keyboard with modern connectivity.
Casio PX-S3100 Key Specs Explained
Number of Keys: 88
You get a full keyboard range from low bass to high treble. This setup matches acoustic pianos and standard sheet music. It ensures you can play any repertoire without missing notes. If you plan to learn classical pieces or advanced jazz, this complete range is essential for proper technique and expression.
Key Action: Hammer action
The keys use weighted mechanisms to simulate the physical resistance of acoustic strings. This helps you develop finger strength and dynamic control. You feel resistance when pressing down, unlike lighter spring-loaded actions. This feature is crucial for serious students who need to build proper touch sensitivity for future transitions to acoustic instruments.
Sound Engine: Multi-dimensional Morphing AiR
This technology models the complex resonances and overtones of a grand piano. It creates a richer, more realistic tone than basic sampling. The sound responds to your playing dynamics with natural harmonics. This engine suits players who value authenticity and depth in their practice sessions, offering a more immersive experience than basic digital piano sounds.
Connectivity: Bluetooth audio
You can wirelessly stream music from your phone or tablet through the piano speakers. This allows you to play along with backing tracks or tutorials without extra cables. It turns the instrument into a wireless speaker. This convenience is ideal for home practice where clutter-free setup is preferred, enhancing your learning and enjoyment sessions.
Pedal Type: SP-34 Three-Pedal System
This unit includes sustain, sostenuto, and damper pedals for full expressive control. It mimics the footwork required for advanced piano literature. The three-pedal setup allows for nuanced phrasing and sustain management. This is vital for intermediate to advanced players who need precise pedal techniques to replicate acoustic piano performance dynamics accurately.
Casio PX-S3100 Design and Build
The listing describes the Casio PX-S3100 as the world's slimmest 88-key digital piano with hammer action. Its depth is just 232 mm, which allows it to fit into living rooms or bedrooms without taking up much floor space. The top panel is flat and mirror-like, featuring touch controls. This layout keeps the surface clean and uncluttered. A gold logo adds a touch of elegance to the black body. You get a sophisticated look that blends into home environments.
The unit is part of a bundle that includes a CS-68 stand, SP-34 three-pedal system, bench, and headphones. The piano itself weighs 92 pounds. With the stand and accessories, the total package measures 58 inches wide, 14 inches high, and 15 inches deep. This substantial weight and size suggest the setup is stable for serious practice but requires a dedicated spot. The included furniture stand provides a permanent base, making it suitable for a fixed location rather than frequent transport.
Connectivity is handled via Bluetooth audio, allowing you to use the built-in speakers as wireless speakers for other devices. The touch controls on the flat panel mean you do not need a physical display for basic adjustments. You can manage settings like tone and resonance through the free Chordana Play for Piano app on your smartphone or tablet. This design choice reduces physical buttons, keeping the instrument's profile sleek and modern while maintaining full control over its features.
Setup and Everyday Use Guide
Setting up this bundle involves assembling the included furniture stand, bench, and SP-34 three-pedal system. The stand provides a stable base for the slim piano body. You connect the pedals to the front of the instrument for standard playing techniques. The total weight of the bundle is 92 pounds, which suggests you may need assistance moving it into position. The height of the stand varies by option, so ensure the bench aligns comfortably with your playing posture.
For daily use, the unit offers straightforward control via touch-sensitive panels on the flat top surface. You adjust tone, touch response, resonance, and the metronome directly on the instrument. The interface is clean, with a gold logo adding a distinct visual element. This design keeps the focus on your playing rather than complex button layouts.
Connectivity expands your practice options. Bluetooth audio lets you use the piano’s strengthened speaker system as a wireless speaker for your smartphone or tablet. You hear your music through the piano’s balanced sound engine, which features a strengthened diaphragm for clear highs and dynamic lows. You can also use the free Chordana Play for Piano app to control settings wirelessly. This allows you to change tones or select songs from the built-in library without touching the keys. The multi-dimensional Morphing AiR sound engine ensures that every note retains harmonic richness, making practice sessions sound vivid and responsive. This combination of physical controls and wireless app integration supports both traditional and modern practice routines.
Before You Buy This Piano
You should verify that your mobile device supports Bluetooth audio. This feature lets you use the piano’s speakers as a wireless output for your phone or tablet. You also need to check the Chordana Play for Piano app compatibility with your operating system. The listing includes a furniture stand, bench, and SP-34 pedal system, so you do not need to buy those separately. However, you must ensure your room has enough space for the 58-inch width and 14-inch height. The bundle weighs 92 pounds, so you may need help moving it. Regular upkeep involves dusting the flat, mirror-like top panel with the included polishing cloth. Avoid harsh chemicals to protect the surface finish. This compact model fits well alongside other options in Digital Pianos & Keyboards for those prioritizing space-saving design without sacrificing key count or sound richness.
