Yamaha vs Vediya Spec Comparison
Key Action
The Yamaha P71 features a fully weighted action. This design replicates the resistance and feel of an acoustic piano, supporting serious technique development and dynamic control. The Vediya model uses a semi-weighted action. This provides a lighter touch with quicker key return, which can be comfortable for beginners. Semi-weighted keys are less resistant than fully weighted ones. If you prioritize authentic piano resistance for classical or advanced study, the Yamaha is the stronger choice. The Vediya offers a more accessible entry point for casual players.
Sound Library
Yamaha provides 10 preset voices. These include the Yamaha grand piano sound and other essential instruments. This limited selection keeps the interface simple and focused on core piano tones. Vediya offers a much larger library with 600 tones and 800 rhythms. It also includes 80 demo songs. This extensive variety supports exploration of different genres, from pop accompaniments to orchestral sounds. If you want to experiment with layered sounds or diverse musical styles, the Vediya provides significantly more sonic options out of the box.
Connectivity
Yamaha does not list USB-MIDI connectivity in its specifications. It relies on standard audio outputs for connection to other devices. Vediya includes USB-MIDI output. This allows direct connection to computers, tablets, or phones for music creation apps and interactive lessons. You can record performances or use learning software without extra adapters. For students or creators who need to integrate their instrument with digital audio workstations or educational platforms, the Vediya offers essential modern connectivity that the Yamaha lacks.
Included Accessories
Yamaha includes only the sustain pedal and power supply. You must purchase a stand and bench separately. This keeps the initial package compact and lightweight. Vediya includes a complete set with a four-leg stand, music stand, piano cover, key stickers, music clips, and a manual. The stand has adjustable leveling feet for uneven floors. This all-in-one approach is convenient for beginners who want a ready-to-play setup immediately. You save time sourcing compatible furniture parts with the Vediya package.
Portability
Yamaha is designed for portability. It weighs 25 pounds and measures 52.3 inches long. It lacks a built-in stand, making it easy to transport and store. Vediya is a stationary unit with a four-leg stand. It weighs more and measures 57 inches long. The wood-grain design and included furniture make it less mobile. If you need to move your instrument frequently for gigs or travel, the Yamaha is the practical choice. The Vediya is intended for a fixed home practice location.
Practice Features
Yamaha offers Dual Mode for layering two voices. This allows blending sounds like piano and strings. It has simple one-button operation. Vediya includes advanced practice tools. It features a metronome, keyboard split mode, transpose, recording, and playback functions. These tools help develop timing and review performances. The split mode allows practicing bass and treble parts separately. If you need structured practice aids and recording capabilities to track progress, the Vediya provides more educational functionality for self-guided learning.
