How to choose the right KORG digital piano
-
Select the correct key count
Decide between 61 keys and 88 keys before buying. The top pick, the EK-50, offers 61 keys for composers needing sound variety in a compact 16.5-pound frame. If you need a full piano layout, the Liano bundle provides 88 keys. Fewer keys mean a lighter, smaller instrument, while more keys support classical repertoire. Match the number of keys to the music you play most often to ensure the instrument fits your workflow.
-
Check the physical dimensions
Measure your available space carefully. The EK-50 measures 39.1 inches long and weighs 16.5 pounds. The Liano bundle is longer at 50.5 inches but remains slim at 2.87 inches high. The microPiano is the most compact option, measuring 34.5 inches long and weighing just 11.5 pounds. Ensure the length and width fit your desk or stand. Consider the height if you plan to place the unit on a low surface or shelf.
-
Consider the target audience
Identify your primary use case. The EK-50 is designed for composers needing sound variety and recording tools. It functions as an arranger keyboard. The Liano targets players who want a full 88-key portable piano for practice. The microPiano suits those who prioritize grand piano aesthetics in a portable form. Choose the model that aligns with whether you are composing, practicing, or performing. This ensures the features match your musical goals.
-
Evaluate portability needs
Look at the weight if you move your instrument often. The microPiano is the lightest at 11.5 pounds. The Liano weighs 13.2 pounds. The EK-50 is slightly heavier at 16.5 pounds. Lighter models are easier to carry to gigs or classes. Heavier models may offer more stability but are harder to transport. Decide how frequently you will move the piano. Select a weight that balances ease of transport with the stability you need during play.
-
Review included accessories
Check what comes in the box. The Liano is available as a bundle with a bench. This adds convenience if you do not have seating. Other models may not include accessories. Verify if the bundle includes cables or stands. This affects the total setup cost and effort. Ensure you have the necessary support for the instrument. Reading the package contents helps you plan your setup accurately without unexpected missing items.
