How these alternatives compare
Yamaha 61-Key Touch-Sensitive Portable Keyboard
The Yamaha PSR-E383 is a lighter option at 9.7 pounds compared to the E583’s 16 pounds. It shares the 61-key velocity-sensitive layout, making it easy to transition between models. You give up the extensive 890 voices and 345 accompaniment styles found in the E583. This model focuses on basic touch sensitivity for beginners. If you need a smaller footprint and lower weight for frequent transport, this is a practical choice. It lacks the advanced controls and Mega Boost button. It is ideal for players who want a simple, portable starter keyboard without complex features.
Yamaha Piaggero 61-Key Portable Piano
The Yamaha Piaggero NP15B offers a similar 61-key velocity-sensitive interface but weighs only 11.5 pounds. It is designed for portability and battery operation, which the E583 does not support. You sacrifice the E583’s 890 voices and auto-accompaniment styles. This model prioritizes a slim profile and travel-friendly design. It is best for players who need a lightweight instrument for practice on the go. The lack of a display and extensive sound library makes it less versatile for performance. If you value battery power and compact size over sound variety, this is a suitable alternative.
Yamaha 61-Key Touch-Sensitive Portable Keyboard
The Yamaha PSR-E483 is heavier at 22.3 pounds and wider than the E583. It provides a broad library of sounds and interactive styles, similar to the E583’s 890 voices. You gain potentially more robust accompaniment features but lose some portability due to the increased weight. This model is for players who prioritize sound versatility and control over a compact form factor. It lacks the specific Live Control Knobs mentioned in the E583 data. If you need extensive voices and do not mind a larger footprint, this is a strong option for detailed musical expression.
Donner 88-Key Velocity-Sensitive Digital Piano
The Donner DEK-80 provides 88 keys, a significant upgrade from the E583’s 61 keys. It is velocity-sensitive and includes a sustain pedal and USB-MIDI connectivity. You gain a full piano range suitable for beginners needing standard keyboard layout. However, you lose the E583’s 890 voices and 345 accompaniment styles. This model is portable but focuses on key count rather than sound variety. It is ideal for players who need 88 keys for practice or learning. If you prioritize key range and included accessories over the E583’s extensive sound library, this is a practical choice.
Casio Casiotone 61-Key Touch-Sensitive Keyboard
The Casio CT-S1 is a lightweight 61-key keyboard weighing 9.92 pounds. It features touch-sensitive keys and AiX tones for rich sound. You give up the E583’s 890 voices and 345 accompaniment styles. This model is designed for portability and creative composition. It lacks the advanced controls and display of the E583. It is best for players who value a slim, lightweight design for travel or small spaces. If you prefer a minimalist approach with fewer features but high portability, this is a solid alternative. It does not include the Mega Boost button or extensive style library.
Rhymo 61-Key Folding Weighted Keyboard
The Rhymo FP61 offers 61 weighted keys, a key difference from the E583’s velocity-sensitive non-weighted keys. It folds for portability, weighing only 8 pounds. You gain weighted key feel for practice but lose the E583’s 890 voices and 345 accompaniment styles. This model includes Bluetooth connectivity, which the E583 data does not mention. It is ideal for travelers who need weighted keys in a compact package. If you prioritize key weight and foldable design over sound variety and accompaniment features, this is a unique option. It sacrifices the E583’s extensive sound library for portability and touch response.
